Ginger Simple Syrup
You have the option of making your simple syrup light, medium or heavy
Light uses 1 cup sugar
Medium uses 1.5 cups sugar
Heavy uses 2 cups sugar
I personally plan on using the syrup to help flavor kombucha. Don’t discard your cooked ginger pieces as you can dehydrate them & make candied ginger if desired
Ingredients:
1 cup Ginger Root
1 cup Water
Sugar
Instructions
Determine if you want to make a light, medium or heavy simple syrup
Chop your ginger. You can peel it of you want or leave it unpeeled
Pour the water into a sauce pan & add the appropriate amount of sugar
Turn on the heat & whisk well until the sugar is fully dissolved, bringing the mixture to a simmer
Add the ginger
Simmer for 30-45 minutes
Remove from the heat & allow to cool slightly before straining out the ginger
Pour into a mason jar & store in the refrigerator
