Aloe Vera Gel from Aloe Vera Juice
Let’s make a simple 4-5 ingredient aloe vera gel. To make this formulation you will need cosmetic grade aloe vera juice, a humectant to help draw moisture back to the skin, an optional extract, a preservative & a gum to thicken it all up
I will ask that you get your raw ingredients from a reputable website, not Amazon. It’s great for a lot of things, raw ingredients for cosmetics just is not one of them

If you make this formulation as written you will end up with a 100g batch, feel free to upscale or downscale the formulation. This formulation is for personal use only, not for resale
Equipment:
Beaker
Weigh boat, optional you can use another beaker
Digital scale
Whisks
Spatula
Plastic wrap
Funnel
Storage container with a disc cap
Ingredients:
Phase A
1.5% Solagum AX OR Xanthan Gum
3% Propanediol 1,3 OR Glycerin
Phase B
94% Cosmetic Grade Aloe Vera Juice
1% Water soluble Extract, see notes
0.5% Liquid Germall Plus
Method:
Weigh out phase A in a small beaker or weigh boat. Mix well to create a slurry
Weigh out phase B in a beaker.
Add phase A into phase B mixing until well combined. If you are wanting to add a colorant do so now, see notes
Cover the beaker with plastic wrap & allow the gum to fully hydrate over the next few hours
Give the mixture a good whisking. If you find the mixture is not uniformly thick throughout place the plastic wrap back on the beaker & allow it to hydrate a bit longer
Pour your gel into your storage container
Notes:
If you don’t want to use an extract put the amount back into the aloe vera juice portion. Keep in mind the color of the extract as this will change the overall color of the formulation.
If you want to add a colorant use a water soluble one
This gel is not going to be as clear as commercial aloe vera gels but clarity does not equal efficiency in a product
